Some Fridays in June are simply dubbed "summer Fridays," but this one in particular was a very special "Justin Bieber summer Friday." Bieber kicked off his electrifying performance on the "Today" show with "Boyfriend," the funky lead single off his new album, Believe.

From there he popped, locked and sang his way through his catalogue of tracks, some from his June 19 album release and some from his past albums. He brought the energy for his My World track "Baby" (even rapping his way through Ludacris' part), but he brought out Big Sean to rap alongside him on "As Long as You Love Me." He had recently teased on Twitter that he had plans to bring out a special guest.

"Make some noise for the legendary, one-and-only Justin Bieber," Sean told the audience after they wrapped up. As for Bieber, well, he only had eyes for his fans. "I want to say thank you guys so much for waiting. I really appreciate it," he told the crowd.

Bieber also performed "All Around the World," but in between songs, he met fans and chatted with them about their signs. He even picked a fan whose sign he liked best and gave her tickets to his upcoming tour.

"I'm really excited to be able to travel the world again and see all my fans. ... Everyone, they got to believe," he said of the trek.

Before he took the stage at Rockefeller Plaza, Bieber sat down with Matt Lauer and opened up about making a mature album.

"At the end of the day, it is [a lot of pressure]. I'm 18 and I have a lot of insecurities, and at the end of the day, me being in my position, it doesn't, like, get rid of those insecurities," he said.

"And so coming out with this album, I know I've been working hard on it and I know I've been doing well, so I'm confident in the album. But, you know, it's coming out in two days.

"But I think it's about proving people wrong," he added. "And going out and making good music and going out there and performing better than everyone else, and that's what you have to do to cross over.

Otherwise I'm going to be another teen heartthrob. I want to be remembered."

Recently, his manager, Scooter Braun, said that despite being legal, Bieber will still get a lot of guidance. That doesn't seem to be something that the singer minds. "I think that I'm at a place. I'm 18. I'm still growing up. I'm still learning about different things: girls, my music," he said. "So I'm not all the way there, but I'm at a stage where I'm growing and my fans are growing with me and I want to make music that reflects that."

Certain proteins, such as 14-3-3, conserve their basic functions of cell cycle control in diverse organisms, from worms to humans. In a study led by Juli?n Cer?n and Sim? Schwartz Jr, researchers from the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL) and the Research Institute of Vall d'Hebron (VHIR) respectively, have described germ line functions of par-5, which is one of the two 14-3-3 proteins existing in Caenorhabditis elegans, worms used as experimental model in genetic studies. The overexpression of the 14-3-3 proteins is related to the resistance of tumors to chemotherapy, which could have implications for clinical practice.

Researchers found that par-5 gene, as its human homologs, is required for DNA damage response in C. elegans validating the model to investigate chemotherapies and genetic modifications since 14-3-3 proteins are therapeutic targets in cancer. The results of this research have been published in the latest issue of Journal of Cell Science.

The powerful genetic tools of C. elegans have allowed a precise functional dissection of the single 14-3-3 protein present in their germline. The researchers have discovered that par-5 is not only necessary for proper cell cycle regulation, but also to prevent the accumulation of endogenous DNA damage and genomic instability.

Moreover, this study reveals that par-5 is required for DNA repair response when it is damaged by chemicals or ionizing radiation. In such response, the researchers propose a model where PAR-5 regulates CDK-1 phosphorylation to stop the cell cycle and repair the damage induced by chemotherapeutic agents.

The overexpression of the 14-3-3 protein has been related to chemotherapy resistance in cancer cell lines while its downregulation sensitizes cells to therapy-induced cell death. Therefore, this study in C. elegans provides the basis for a model to study chemotherapy response in the context of a whole living organism.

Regulators proteins 14-3-3, evolutionarily conserved, bind to signaling proteins and affect their stability, activity or cellular localization. So, they are involved in the regulation of various cellular processes, including apoptosis, the cell cycle and stress response.

In addition, the researchers found that par-5 is required for cell cycle arrest in response to replicative stress and ionizing radiation.

That doesn't include things like the hinge, rear or sides of the device, but it would appear to give Apple some fairly solid ground to stand on should it choose to go after other laptop manufacturers using a "substantially similar" wedge shape (regardless of any other differences). NEW YORK (AP) ? New York City police say the underage daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis was caught drinking in public and carrying fake identification.

The New York Police Department said Tuesday that officers found 20-year-old Scout Willis sipping a beer Monday evening in Union Square in violation of an open-container law. Police say she also showed them a fake ID ? a misdemeanor.

Willis was arrested and taken to a local police station and released with a ticket ordering her to appear in court on July 21.

Bruce Willis' representative declined to comment on the arrest.

Scout is the second of Moore and Willis' three daughters together. The couple divorced in 2000.
